Smallest change that works.
I almost never rebuild what's already working. I find the seam where AI belongs, install it carefully, and leave the rest alone. The most useful fix is usually the one that disturbs the least.

This isn't a studio. It's me.
I take on a couple of projects at a time and ship them end to end — design, code, the boring infrastructure bits, all of it. No retainers, no slow drip of hours. When the project's done, it's done. If it sticks around, it's because there's a real reason to keep working together.
Most of what I build is a piece of AI that fits into a business that's already running. A chatbot that takes the first conversation. A workflow that retires a task no one wanted to do. A dashboard that turns a pile of data into something you can actually scan in six seconds.
The trade is simple. You get one person who cares about the whole thing — not a sales rep, not a project manager, not a team you'll never meet. Just me, building the thing.

I hold to.
Not rules, really — just habits I've picked up from a decade of shipping software for other people.

Code someone else can read.
Software gets read more than it gets written. A clear schema, a sensible folder structure, a dashboard you can scan in six seconds — those aren't nice-to-haves. That's the deliverable.

One accent, not seven.
Restraint over ornament. I'd rather pick one thing and do it well than stack features that don't earn their keep. The product should be the loudest thing on the page.

I stick around after launch.
Every project ships with a 30-to-90-day support window. After that, ongoing maintenance is on a monthly retainer — written scope, predictable cost, no surprises.

Working solo.
I'm Kaegan McDaniel — an engineer who builds AI into businesses that don't have an in-house team for it. About a decade of production work behind me, mostly for hospitality, finance, and small media companies.
I'm not a studio with a roster. It's a one-person operation by design. That means a smaller pipeline, but it also means whoever you talked to first is the person writing the code.
Domus Lux is the name on the door, but it's just me back here.
